Leadership Transition: Shana Peschek Appointed IAM Director of Training and Apprenticeships

South Park, WA — [April 3rd, 2026] — Machinists Institute (MI) announced on Monday, April 1st that Executive Director Shana Peschek has been appointed Director of Training and Apprenticeships for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), effective April 1, 2026.

Peschek has led Machinists Institute since its founding in 2019, leading the adoption of Registered Apprenticeship along the West Coast and expanding programs nationally. Under her leadership, MI has increased Registered Apprenticeship pathways, launched a state-recognized pre-apprenticeship program, and strengthened partnerships with employers, IAM District 751, and regional workforce and community organizations.

In her new role, Peschek will report to IAM General Vice President Jon Holden, who was appointed General Vice President of Training and Apprenticeships by unanimous vote of the IAM Executive Council, effective April 1, 2026. Holden, formerly president of District 751, will lead the union’s effort to expand apprenticeship and training programs across North America.

To ensure continuity, Ryan Davis, MI’s Senior Director of Education, will serve as Interim Executive Director. Davis has played a central role in MI’s instructional strategy, program development, and partner engagement. Machinists Institute’s Board of Directors will begin a formal search for the next Executive Director in the coming weeks.
