Jerry Paredes

Boeing Mentor Director, Renton

As the Machinists Institute Boeing Mentor Director-South Region, Jerry recruits and oversees Boeing subject matter expert retirees to assist with new employee training and ongoing technical advice on the floor as Boeing Mentors. Jerry has been working in the Aeronautical field for thirty-five years and counting, working on both fixed and rotor wing Aircraft. While serving in the Marine Corps, Jerry held several MOS’s including his last one as a CH-46 Helicopter Crew Chief where he was responsible for the integrity of the Aircraft and performing daily flight operations. After four years and being Honorably Discharged in 1988, Jerry pursued and received his Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P) in 1989, going on to work on commuter aircraft, Fix Base Operations (FBO’s) corporate and business Jets. Jerry took a break from career work to attend Orange Coast Community College in California to prepare for earning his Federal Communications Commission General Radiotelephone Operators License (FCC GROL). In 1997, Jerry began working at the Boeing Company as an Electrician at CDC flight line and quickly progressed to working as an Avionics Technician; he also took advantage of Boeing offered programs where he received his student pilot certificate and fiber optics certificate. After being laid off post 9/11, Jerry went to work for Alaska Airlines where he fulfilled a multitude of roles including Avionics Lead, Avionics OJTI and Maintenance Controller. Jerry retired as an Avionics Technical Service Representative before briefly returning to The Boeing Company; he has since retired from Renton Preflight as an Avionics Technician. When Jerry is not at work, he enjoys going for walks with his wife, visiting family, and traveling.
